Oil Painting – “Morro Bay Inlet”

To capture this scene, I had to drag my small-wheeled cart of equipment through soft sand for a tortuous distance in order to follow my friend Harvey to a site he thought would be a good one for us to paint.  When I saw it, I agreed with him.  Within a year, I revisited the scene with another artist friend, Bridget Duffy, and we painted this scene from the opposite bank.  Instead of having the sailing boats in the foreground and the canoes in the background, my new painting depicted the canoes in a fair amount of detail with the rest of the foreground, and the small sailing boats in the distance.
